Our Skin

Our skin is made up many different structures and cell types, including blood vessels, nerves, sebaceous glands (oil), sudoriferous glands (water)and hair follicles.

Skin is the largest hormone and enzyme producing organ of the body. There are three main skin layers:

  • Subcutis-contains fat cells and lipocytes which produce lipids(oil)
  • Dermis-contains nerves, blood vessels, sebaceous glands (water), sweat glands, and consists mainly of collagen (retains moisture for flexibility in connective tissues) and elastin (holds skin shape)
  • Epidermis-contains kerotinocytes (cells), melanocytes (cells that deal with color/pigmentation), and Langerhans cells (defensive cells making up part of the skin’s immune system

The skin is biodynamic and alive except for the outermost layer which is less than the width of a human hair. About 50% of the body’s primary cells of immunity are within the skin.

Skin does not breathe oxygen, it perspires. Skin acts like a heat regulator in conjunction with the blood vessels and sweat glands. In one square inch, there are over 2800 openings for sweat and oil glands. Over 3 million sweat glands cover the body, water loss ranging from 100 to 8,000 ml per day. However, as we age these sweat glands produce less perspiration.

Acid Mantle

This all brings us to our Acid Mantle. Sebum(oil) and perspiration(water) combine to form a protective film rendering the skin less vulnerable to damage and attack by environmental factors (sun, wind, bacteria etc) and less prone to dehydration. Together these secretions rise up to the epidermis and for the acid mantle, natures true moisturizer.

Cremes have nothing to do with moisturization. The combination of water and lipid (oil) keeps the skin moist and supple.

Young skin is naturally moist. However, as skin ages and dead cells build up, the two glands begin to clog and occasionally shrink. This is why to truly hydrate the skin we imitate the sebaceous (oil) and suderiferous (water) glands on the skin everyday.

That’s why DMK has created products that mimic product from our body’s natural processes.

MOISTURIZERS

HERB & MINERAL Herb & Mineral Mist contains over 98% cold water soaked herbs that can act systemically as well as have a direct effect on the skin. By having such a high content of minerals and herbs the solution becomes polarized ( breaking surface tension immediately). This spray in transepidermal delivery (entering down into the dermal layer), infusing a multitude of vitamins, minerals, trace elements, and water. This could be thought of as the “vehicle” that carries the nutrients.

*Key Note- Herb and Mineral Mist aids in the delivery of vital nutrients to the skin. It is devised to revise dermal hydration and free water levels by addressing the acid mantle and barrier function. It also provides astringent, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antibacterial Properties. Recommended for all skins.

ACU MIST Acu Mist contains aloe and plant extracts that help to normalize the skin’s acid mantle specifically for acne-prone and oily skin. It has been designed for acne sufferers to restore the very important acid mantle ( acting as abrrier for bacteria and other contaminants), controling acne causing bacteria fast, as well as hydrating the skin and protecting against trans epidermal water loss (migration of moisture upwards from the dermis through to the upper layers of the epidermis.

*Key Note- Acu Mist is perfect for acne sufferers and crucial part of acid mantle protection.

AMINODINE DMK’s “golden water” Aminodine is an age management formulation which contains Aminoguanidine to help revise cross-linked wrinkles in mature, middle-aged and sun damaged skins. A Refreshing hydrating spray that soaks into the skin helping to reactivate glucose and normalize the free radical effect of glycation (reduces the ability of collagen fiber to regenerate leading to wrinkling, creping and sagging of the skin).

*Key Note- Aminodine is for mature skin and only used nightly in conjunction with DMK regimen.

Now that we’ve discussed the water portion…time for the lipids(oil)

OILS

SEBA-E Described as velvet radiance in a bottle, Seba-e is a fractionated blend of herbal oils and vitamin E sealing in moisture, helping combat dryness, dry lipid skin, dehydration, and skin suffering from transepidermal water loss (TEWL).

Seba E was designed to emulate the chemistry of the lipids and natural moisturizing factors of our skin. By replacing the acid mantle, Seba E restores the skin’s natural barrier function and prevents transepidermal water loss.

When used with Herb & Mineral Mist, Seba-e will reestablish the protective acid mantle and promote barrier repair by replicating the natural way skin secretes.

When skin loses it’s lipid and natural moisturizing factors we experience surface roughness, flaking, red reactive skin, fine lines, wrinkles and a loss of bouncce and elasticity in the skin.

*Key Note-Seba E is great for normal, dry, dehydrated and inflamed skin conditions. Not recommended for oily acne skin

HERBAL PIGMENT Herbal Pigment Oil is used in conjunction with Herb & mineral Mist for barrier repair therapy restoring vital lipids , preventing TEWL, brightening pigmentation helping to smooth and brighten skin.

This is an excellent replacement replacement for Seba E on darker complexions, skin prone to hyperpigmenting ( darkening of skin) or environmental damage.

Herbal Pigment oil is a rich, delicate herbal oil that is designed to reduce the signs of hyperpigmentation. It is good for dark circles and fine lines around the eyes and any dark areas around the elbows, knees and even dry lips. Herbal Pigment oil nourishes and strengthens while it lightens and brightens. It can be used in combination with Melanotech Crème or other DMK products

*Key Note-Herbal Pigment has the main function to imitate the sebaceous (oil) flow. It softens , brightens and desquamates (layers of dead cells come off in flakes or scales) dry or discolored skin, while strengthening and replacing vital lipids.

In conclusion, sebaceous fluids should flow freely and combine with our sudoriferous secretions to create the acid mantle. Due to environmentals, sun and day to day living our skin needs help to optimal function. These products are the best and greatest hope your skin has.

*LOVE YOUR SKIN
